Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton Community Schools
We welcome you to our school district. Our schools are located in Elk Horn and Exira, Iowa; small communities in Shelby and Audubon Counties. We enjoy a strong sense of community and benefit from a high level of parent and community involvement. Our schools offer many amentities including a one-to-one laptop computer program, as well as strong academic and extra-curricular programs. Our two schools, Preschool, Kindergarten and grades 4-8 in Exira, and Preschool-3rd grade and grades 9-12 in Elk-Horn, serve over three hundred students total. We know you’ll love our communities as much as we do.

Salem Lutheran Homes & Rehabilitation Center

Elk Horn City Park
Elk Horn has a beautiful City Park with a pool. Enjoy a picnic, playground and swimming. Try your hand at some putt-putt golf, play basketball, tennis or volleyball. There is fun for everyone!

Kimballton City Park
The Kimballton City Park is in a great location, just 1/2 block from the Lloyd Petersen Ballpark. This area has taken on a complete renovation in 2013-2014 with new playground equipment, new restrooms, Hans Christian Andersen fairytale statues and Audubon County's Freedom Rock!

Elk Horn Public Library
More than just a building full of books, Elk Horn's library is impressive for a town of our size, with a large video and DVD selection, several research computers and a kids section including Ayzlee's Castle for story time and activities. Our librarians put on Mardi Gras parties, tea parties and puppet shows for all neighborhood kids.

Kimballton Public Library
The Kimballton Public Library has served this community with books and videos of all genres. It is a safe area that encourages the love of reading and invites both adults and children to share books together.
